Our Pastor

Rev. Dwight Seawood began his role as FMBC’s new Sr. Pastor in May of 2009. Rev. Seawood comes to us from Mount Olive Baptist Church of Wicomico Church, Virginia. He is a native of Chicago, IL. At the age of eight he moved with his family to the Great Pacific Northwest and the city of Portland, OR. He was educated in the public school system of Portland. After completing high school, Rev. Seawood enlisted in the united States Air Force. While enlisted, he received numerous awards and citations.

Moreover, while a military member, Rev. Seawood received the call to Christian Ministry. In December 1986, Rev. Seawood announced his call to the church at large. On April 8, 1990 he was licensed into the Gospel Ministry by the authority of the King Baptist Church, Denver, CO. He was ordained on June 22, 1997 by Macedonia Baptist Church and the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountain Region. He was called to the Pastorate of Mount Olive Baptist Church in February 2000 where he served as pastor through April 2008.

Rev. Seawood’s academic preparation consists of a Bachelors of Arts degree in Religion and History (cum laude) from Virginia Union University (May 1998) and the Master of Divinity degree (May 2001) from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. In addition, Rev. Seawood has completed the Church Business Administration course through the National Association of Church Business Administration, at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA.

In addition to his ministry at Mount Olive, Rev. Seawood serves in various religions and civic organizations, i.e. First Vice-Moderator of the Northern Neck Baptist Association (consisting of the 33 Baptist Churches in the region), member of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, member of the Northumberland County Ministerial Association, member of the American Baptist Churches, USA ministerial association. Rev. Seawood serves as mentor and paraprofessional to the Northumberland County Public School System.

Rev. Seawood is married to the former Andrena Bundy of Baltimore, MD. They have one son, Matthew, seven years of age.
